Grundfos UPS15-58FC circulator pump (Grundfos# 59896341) incorporates a cast iron housing, three speed motor (Low/Med/High) and a built-in, removable check valve. Grundfos UPS15-58FC is among the most popular and most versatile circulator pump models on the market. I like Grundfos products and this is no exception. However the situation in which I needed to mount this caused some confusion. Make sure you read and follow the instructions that say "DO NO MOUNT THIS WITH THE MOTOR SHAFT IN THE VERTICAL POSITION". Took me a while to figure out how to disconnect/reconnect the motor so that I could mount it where it needed to be and still have the motor shaft in the horizontal position. How to do it is in the instructions. All is well and good. It's circulating water through my solar thermal panel like a champ.

What is the difference between the FC and FRC model?

FC models have a flange with holes for bolts perpendicular to the motor. The FRC's are models with "rotated" flange, which has bolt holes in line with the motor. These options are designed to accommodate different positions of the circulator during the installation.

Hi, is this pump available with a 1 1/2" flange size? It is replacing an older UPS 20-42 3 speed which is located on my boiler return nipple. I will be re-piping the new pump to the supply side along with an expansion tank and air separator but need a 1 1/2" flange.Thanks

All Grundfos UP15 (UPS15) through UP26 (UPS26) allow for maximum 1-1/4" flange. Only models UPS43 and up allow for 1-1/2" flange connection.

Circulator pumps are typically installed in conjunction with an external control, which acts as a switch. The most common way is to use a zone control (switching relay), such as Grundfos UPZCP. The control creates an interface between the pump, boiler and thermostat and when the latter calls for heat, the pump and boiler are switched on.
