i need just the baseboard steel front covers but they must be about 5-1/2 in tall. This is old home and ill need a total length of about 20 feet. any ideas? Thx

Older baseboards are usually smaller in height than modern ones and replacing just the cover is not always an option because the heating element is positioned lower (in old ones). Based on the height you provided, current Slant/Fin baseboard covers will not fit. However, there are still at least (3) options for renewing or replacing the baseboards:
Option 1 is to use baseboard covers - it's easy and no soldering needed.
Option 2 is to unsolder the heating element, dispose of the old cover, install a new one and the old heating element inside. This would require soldering, but would cost less.
Option 3 is to replace the baseboard completely. It would cost just slightly more than option 2, but you'll have a brand new baseboard.
