Stainless steel body of the circulator resists corrosion and allows to use UPS15-55SFC model in a variety of applications ranging from open loop radiant and hot water recirculation, to closed loop hydronic heating and even chilled water cooling. Great pump, cheesy plastic This stainless pump is a workhorse and worth the money. BUT, one drawback is how thin and brittle the plastic electrical housing is. It's easily cracked in shipping and you need to handle it carefully when installing. The plastic switch which changes speeds is equally bad. You sometimes think you'll break the tiny handle before the switch moves. But this is only my 2nd replacement in 16 years on my 3 zone system, so that's pretty good.

Check valve is a little white plastic part inside the volute opening, right at the flange. If you look at the product picture, you will be able to see it.
