This is a high-quality and highest-density available, USA-made, EPS foam board insulation specifically designed for above and below-grade projects (slab and foundation wall insulation), including radiant floor heat & snow melt projects with PEX tubing or heating wire embedded into the concrete slab. 3 lb/cu. ft density is very tough, can be walked on, will not crumble and is usually reserved for thicker than normal slabs and/or for commercial/industrial uses.
For PEX radiant heat installations, PEX pipe can either be secured to the insulation board itself (using PEX foam board stapler & staples) or installed on top of the reinforcement layer (tied rebar or wire mesh) which rests on the insulation board.
