PVC Closet Flanges

Closet flanges or toilet flanges provide a transition between the sewer pipe (PVC or cast iron) and the toilet bowl and facilitate the connection between the two using a wax (or wax-less rubber) gasket and closet bolts.
Available in a variety of options, including one-piece design and w/ swivel stainless steel ring, protective knock-out covers, straight & offset types and multiple pipe connection options:
Hub (socket): same as a PVC fitting, i.e. 4" hub will accept 4" PVC pipe.
Spigot: equal to the PVC pipe, i.e. will fit inside a 3" PVC fitting (hub).
Inside Pipe (w/ gasket): fits inside a designated size PVC, ABS or cast iron (no-hub) soil pipe.
Inside Pipe (non-gasketed): fits inside Schedule 40 PVC pipe.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What does 3" Hub x 4" Inside connection mean on the closet flange?
A: It means the closet flange accepts 3" PVC pipe (same way as a 3" PVC fitting) OR can be glued inside a 4" PVC schedule 40 pipe.

Q: What is the purpose of an offset closet flange?
A: The standard rough-in distance for a closet flange is 12" from the wall (center of flange to the frame) and usually at least 15" from either left or right sides. Sometimes, either due to error in centering the original drain pipe, or due to wall build-up or modifications, a toilet does not fit over an existing flange.
An offset flange provides the 0" - 1.5" adjustable offset from either side to accommodate the installation and solve the problem.

Q: What is the difference between a closet flange with swivel steel ring and fixed (one-piece) ring & flange?
A: The main advantage of the steel swivel ring is the flexibility it provides during the initial installation AND in subsequent toilet replacements and repair. A one-piece PVC closet flange is connected once with no room for error, and if broken, the entire connection and the closet flange itself must be cut away and re-done. A swivel closet flange, on the other hand, can be rotated and replaced without the need for accessing the drain pipe or disconnecting the closet flange from it.
