I guess the days of the basic circulator pump are gone. I like bells and whistles and this pump has them all. Easy install. After that the fun starts. This pump has seven modes. Three based on watts, three based on gph and an auto adapt mode. On auto adapt it will alternately display power use in watts and gph being pumped through the system. It's fun to watch. Seems to run fine. I have three pumps/zones active and one inactive connected to a Taco 4 zone controller. I would recommend this pump based on based on the five months they have been in service.

Make sure that you order the correct style. This pump has the rotated flange. Front to back as in the pic shown. If your bolts are on the sides (facing the pump body/display panel then order the other model.

After installing my radiant/hydronic system three years ago I have had problems with the Taco Hec-2 bumblebee pumps from day one. Two more crapped out. Before I found the Grundfos Alpha2 I replaced bumblebees with Taco/Viridian variable pump which is OK but the display is useles near the ground. Can’t see a thing and requires multiple steps to change and set up. The Alpha lets you change speeds on the fly and gives you readings on speed and wattage. Also, the Taco pumps are very buzzy, guess that’s why they call it the “bumblebee” I’d like to spray them all with bug killer. The Alpha2 is very quiet. So far I’m very happy.
